Artist Statement

In my artistic practice, I’m not interested in using my camera to reflect the world as I see it, but instead to reveal a new dimension. Embracing movement, distorting time and using momentum to create something beyond what the naked eye can perceive. Exploring the unique properties of light and time, and using them as the building blocks to create my works. Rearranging their natural flow to create something that makes us ponder our individual perceptions.

THE FRAME

The initial idea for ‘The Frame’ emerged from my obsession with rotating my abstract photographs and my desire to enable this same experience for others in real life.

TRANSFORMING SPACE-TIME

The first hints of my ongoing series ‘Transforming Space Time’ began to emerge in 2017 while experimenting with long-exposure photography in Costa Rica. However, it was not until a couple of years later that I realized I was slowly building a body of works that are unpredictable, chaotic, and abstract. A strong departure from all my previous work, which had always tried to capture a unique angle of an object or a subject. A picture of something that exists or at least did at some point in time.

TIME LINES

Created mostly at night, I use any available light sources I can. Not as a means to light up a subject or scene, but instead as the subject itself. Whether it be a streetlight, a tree decorated in Christmas lights, or the sunlight bouncing off the moon, if it’s sending out a steady stream of photons towards my camera, I use them to create ’Time Lines’.
